Performing songwriter, guitarist, and recording artist Taylor James has been delighting music lovers since she first emerged in the Vancouver music scene in the mid-‘90’s. With her smooth, confident vocal sound, undeniable prowess on guitar, and ability to create instant rapport with audiences, she captured local attention immediately. Since then, Taylor's reputation for consistent quality, professionalism, and integrity in music has brought her opportunities to perform with many of her own musical mentors on concert stages all over the world.

Four studio recordings released over a span of ten years offer a seamless blend of inspired original music and carefully chosen cover material that honours and informs Taylor’s own songwriting, crossing the musical spectrum from traditional folk, blues and country to progressive rock and pop. In concert, whether she’s performing her signature reading of Led Zeppelin’s “Ramble On” with her seven-piece rocking blues band, or playing a new original song solo at a candle-lit acoustic show, Taylor’s versatility with a wide range of musical styles brings the best of many worlds together, with a style and grace that is all her own.

Following her first touring experiences sharing stages with the likes of Blue Rodeo, Prairie Oyster, Ian Tyson, Ronnie Hawkins, and Lisa Brokop, Taylor was invited to the Netherlands opening for Dutch recording artist Ruud Hermans. At home, she was fast becoming a local favorite in the Vancouver casino, corporate and club scene, also supporting the original music community by hosting and organizing showcases and fundraisers featuring other Vancouver artists. With her generous musicality and warm stage charisma, many of them and other high-profile Canadian acts have been happy to include Taylor as a backing musician and vocalist, including such artists as Paul Brandt, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Aaron Pritchett, Jessie Farrell, Brad Johner, Shane Yellowbird, George Canyon and Doc Walker.

Proving that music is a universal language, Taylor’s music has brought her a long way from her Francophone hometown of North Bay Ontario. Performing in Poland, Germany, Ireland and the US, she’s opened shows for Jeff Healy, Colin James, Jim Byrnes, Jerry Doucette, Paul Hyde (Payolas), Chilliwack, and Ten Years After. She recently welcomed the opportunity to sing in both French and English on show tours for the Canadian Forces in Greece, Sarajevo, Egypt and the Persian Gulf, along with Patricia Conroy, Shaun Verreault (Wide Mouth Mason), Aaron Pritchett, David Gogo, Deanna Johnston (Rock Star Inxs), and comedian Michael McDonald.

With a full slate of both international and local appearances on the calendar, Taylor is busier than ever, especially with her 5th studio recording in the works. Featuring a combination of both original and cover material drawing from such influences as Bonnie Raitt, Lucinda Williams and Grace Slick, this offering will place special focus on her electric guitar stylings – sure to please fans who have seen her tearing it up live.

Whether she’s gliding down the guitar neck with a slide solo, commanding the stage front and center with a microphone in hand or delivering an intimate acoustic composition, she has an undeniable power over her listeners. Continuing to attract new fans with an energy that is contagious, both live and in the studio, Taylor James is giving you all she’s got and has something very special to say.
